Q & A
Question: What is your favorite John Lennon song, and why?
I had to think long and hard about this one. Imagine is pretty high up there, as is Give Peace a Chance, but I’d have to pick Oh My Love.
It’s hard to listen to the lyrics and the conviction in his voice in the song and not get a glimpse into just how much he loved Yoko Ono. Love her or hate her, you have to have a small amount of admiration for the woman who inspired such a beautiful, yet simple, love song.

My Best of 2009
Best Albums (in no order)
10. wilco - wilco (the album)
there's no real theme or musical persona here, just a hodgepodge of great music.
listen to: you and i
9. miike snow - miike snow
this album is absolutely gorgeous. whereas their work as producers usually results in a sort of loud electropop, this is just lush.
listen to: animal
8. mariachi el bronx - mariachi el bronx
it's hard to listen to this album with an open mind. the idea of a hardcore punk band releasing a mariachi album is a bit too much for most people, but somehow they really make it work.
listen to: cell mates
7. them crooked vultures - them crooked vultures
a collaboration of dave grohl, josh hommes and john paul jones. this album is a future classic in the making. if you love the guitar and drums you have to give this a go.
listen to: new fang
6. drake - so far gone
i almost didn't listen to this album. all i could think was the fact that it was an actor recording and i really didn't watch much to do with it. i'm glad i reconsidered. and there's an added bonus in that i still laugh when he brags he can 'make your pussy whistle like the andy griffith theme song'.
listen to: best i ever had
5. florence and the machine - lungs
a mix of kate bush, siouxsie sioux, bjork and tom waits. she also covered one of my favourite songs ('you've got the love') and that makes her okay in my book.
listen to: you've got the love
4. the cast of glee - the music of glee, volumes 1 & 2
i don't like musicals, but i do love glee. not only is the show funny and well written but these guys CAN sing.
listen to: don't stop believin'
3. phoenix - wolfgang amadeus phoenix
sleek, clean, beautiful, catchy.
listen to: 1901
2. yeah yeah yeahs - it's blitz!
the band goes from garage rock revival to dance rock. surprisingly, it works.
listen to: heads will roll
1. animal collective - merriweather post pavillion
a lot of people dismiss the animal collective as hipsters. they really should listen to this album. every song is amazing.
listen to: in the flowers
